NAFTA 20 Update–View from the architects

Very interesting discussion from the architects of NAFTA–Jaime Serra Puche (Mexico), Thomas Donohue (US), and John Weekes (Canada).

Main points is the NAFTA region is more integrated, more competitive economically than China, needs to work together on regional trade agreements.

The panel had three main recommendations:
1). NAFTA countries need to adopt a comprehensive labor and supply chain mobility policy.

2). NAFTA countries should develop an integrated energy policy to take advantage of the shale plays.

3). NAFTA countries should work together on regional trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
