When the price is still not right – San Antonio Express-News

Sustained low natural gas prices are prompting producers to push for permits to export it to overseas markets where prices are higher. It sells for more than $15 in Asia.So far, the U.S. Department of Energy has approved only two proposals to liquefy natural gas for shipment to nations with which the United States does not have free trade agreements. Those projects, Sabine Pass in Louisiana and the Freeport LNG in Texas, combined would not ship more than 15 million tons of natural gas per year, which would not tap domestic gas supplies enough to influence prices, Sullivan said.
